Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Surgical Precision. Personal Results. Trusted Expertise.

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a transformative plastic surgery procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the mid to lower abdomen while tightening the underlying muscle structure, including the rectus muscle.
At Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic, our board-certified plastic surgeons perform both full and mini abdominoplasties in our fully accredited Edmonton surgical facility, with results that prioritize natural shape, contour, and balance.
-
Abdominoplasty is often ideal for individuals who have experienced:
Significant weight loss resulting in loose, sagging skin
Abdominal changes following pregnancy
Midline weight gain and decreased skin elasticity due to aging
If you're struggling with excess skin, weakened abdominal muscles, or residual fat that won’t respond to diet and exercise, a tummy tuck may help restore core strength and redefine your silhouette.
Tummy tuck procedures are often combined with liposuction for enhanced results.
-
A tummy tuck involves the removal of excess skin and fat, the repair of separated abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis), and the reshaping of the abdominal wall for a smoother, firmer appearance.
Our surgeons specialize in two approaches:
Mini Tummy Tuck
For patients with minimal skin laxity or localized lower abdominal concerns. This procedure involves a small, discreet incision along the lower abdomen (often within the underwear line), through which excess skin and fat are removed and muscles are tightened.
Full Tummy Tuck
A comprehensive procedure for patients with more extensive skin laxity or weakened abdominal musculature. The incision extends across the lower abdomen, and the skin is elevated to the ribcage. This approach allows for complete muscle repair and skin tightening, with significantly enhanced results.
Many patients opt to combine abdominoplasty with targeted liposuction for improved body contouring.
-
As with all surgical procedures, scarring is inevitable—but every effort is made to place incisions discreetly and ensure scars fade over time. Common side effects include:
Hematomas or seromas (fluid accumulation, which may require drainage)
Temporary numbness around the incision site
Gradual return of sensation over several weeks or months
Full recovery and final results typically develop over 6 to 12 months, though you’ll notice a dramatic change in shape and firmness much sooner.
