Breast Lifts in Edmonton
A breast lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that lifts and reshapes breasts that are sagging, and have lost their shape and firmness. This procedure can also be used to reduce the size of the areola. The Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic offers breast lifts at our Edmonton facility.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A BREAST LIFT?
If you are satisfied with the size of your breasts but would like a more youthful contour, you may be a candidate for breast lift.
While a breast lift can be performed at any age, we recommend cosmetic surgery be undertaken only once breast development has stopped.
Note: Childbirth and breastfeeding can have a significant effect on the size and shape of your breasts.
HOW DOES THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE WORK?
There are variations to the incisions used for breast lifts. The traditional method of lifting the breast uses three incisions: one around the areola, the second vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease under the breast, and the third along the natural curve of the breast crease.
After excess skin is removed, the nipple and areola are moved to a higher position. Skin that was located above the nipple pre-surgery is pulled down, giving a new shape to the breast.
A breast lift is often performed with underarm liposuction.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF BREAST LIFTS?
Normally, there are few complications from breast lift surgery. Although the nipples and areolas remain attached to the breast tissue during a breast lift, numbness can occur. Other possible complications include bleeding, infection and reactions to anaesthesia. The breasts may not be exactly identical and nipple height may vary.
Several days after breast surgery, you should be able to move about comfortably. You may be instructed to wear a support bra for a few weeks until the swelling and discoloration of your breasts diminishes.
Incisions will be red at first and normally stay this way for several months following a breast lift, but most patients return to work within a month.
