Facelifts in Edmonton: Rejuvenate Your Face and Neck

Facelift surgery aims to rejuvenate the face and neck. This cosmetic surgery procedure involves removing excess skin and fatty tissue, and correcting the sagging of specific facial muscles. The Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic offers facelifts at our Edmonton facility.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A FACELIFT?

If the signs of aging in your face (sagging, deep creases, loss of muscle tone, jowls, etc.) bother you, a facelift may be the cosmetic surgery that is right for you. Plastic surgeons have been performing facelifts for many years, and advances have led to improved and longer-lasting results – creating smoother and more pleasing contours to your face and neck, resulting in a “refreshed” appearance.

HOW DOES THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE WORK?

Facelift surgery requires a surgeon to make an incision that follows the contour of your ear, extends around the earlobe, and back into the hairline (an area that can be easily concealed by hair or with makeup).

After the skin has been pulled up and back, any excess is removed. In some cases, deeper tissues may be repositioned. A small incision may also be made in the chin to help remove fatty tissue in that area and smooth the cord-like structures of the underlying muscle in the neck.

Classically, a facelift aims to rejuvenate the face in the areas of the temples, cheeks, and neck. The forehead and eyebrows may also be lifted at the same time, in addition to blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF A FACELIFT?

Occasionally, some patients experience hematoma (an accumulation of blood under the skin), infections or reactions to anaesthesia following facelift surgery.

Most people return to their normal activities within two weeks. Since the healing process is gradual, you should expect to wait several weeks for an accurate picture of the way you will look.

Facelifts have been known to produce excellent results in many patients, and while scarring varies according to individual patterns of healing, it is almost always inconspicuous.
